That is where Hunter changes in the third part. The basic principle of the story mode has not changed in the third year of your career: film sequences alternate with training simulations and specific competitive games. Hunter has to make decisions that have a rather indirect effect on the popularity and reputation of the star.
Although some conversations seem very artificial and many characters are very clichéd, on the whole the story is believable and encourages you to continue playing. As in the previous year, the player controls Hunter’s half-sister Kim and his buddy Danny Williams. Anyone who has played the first two parts cannot avoid the third. All FIFA newbies, on the other hand, will have a hard time finding themselves in the last piece of the trilogy. A new feature are the additional challenges, in which Hunter competes against other players and, if successful, can look forward to an improvement in player ratings. Otherwise, “The Journey” in Part 3 remains true to its basics.
The mode is sometimes a bit lengthy. Especially when there are alternating league games and training sessions and the actual story takes a back seat for a certain period of time. In addition, the outcome of the story is fixed and cannot really be influenced. If Hunter is hopelessly unsuccessful, the player is forced to reload a saved game and try again.
Whoever buys FIFA 19 receives a great football game for consoles (at the time of release). The graphics, the atmosphere, the licenses: EA Sports offers the complete package with FIFA. The Couch-Coop is even more fun, Ultimate Team is a bit rounder and technically the game is back where FIFA 18 was at the beginning. Slower, more realistic. There is still room for improvement, for example in career or pro club mode, although we have to say: This is whining at a very high level. FIFA 19 is a great football game. We can only confirm the purchase recommendation of our short test here.
EA sent us two review copies of FIFA 19. We tested the game on Xbox One and Playstation 4.
FIFA 19 will be released on September 28 for Xbox One, Playstation 4, PC and Nintendo Switch. The game costs – depending on the version – between 50 and 90 euros.
